PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Going back 70 years, pioneer Andriotes living in America, with great longing for their homeland established a Society to help the families they left behind.
Andros Society then grew to become the largest and one of the richest of that time. Their contributions were in the form of financial support towards construction of new schools, churches, and roads, as well as aid to war-torn
families and orphans.
With members today who believe in the same principles as their forefathers, Andros Society heads into the year 2000 dedicated to preserving unity among Andriotes with greater strength, love, and hope for our younger generations to come. I invite and encourage this young crowd with their sharp intuition, educated minds, bright new ideas and energy to step forward and give us new light, and ensure us that we will not be the last in this long history of Andros Society.
The Greek heritage and mostly its inheritance is often a heavy load that is carried by our Greek American Sons and Daughters, for it is taught to them in their homes, schools and Greek schools. Most of what they know is beyond
what our forefathers knew about Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, etc.
So as President, I wait for your participation and undertaking of your role in your Greek/Andriotiko heritage. That's an order.
I welcome all to our 70th Anniversary and thank all of you for your participation and help. I thank all members, past Presidents and Officers. I especially thank and welcome the Ladies of Andros. Together and side by side we are going tou conquer the future.

I thank all for our Journal and Raffle.

Thank you all,

GEORGE J. VLAHAKIS
President
Andros Society of USA, Inc.
