And it's not just some people here in this
forum that badmouth her but even in the Greek media,
for example talk show host Roula Koromhla slammed
her on her show criticized her and her parents for not
teaching her to speak better Greek and made full of irony comments regarding her upbringing, she couldn't understand why she was so popular and how omogeneis who live abroad are raised differently more "Austira" but she didn't mean it as a compliment -she also made fun how Kalomhra is close to her family and brother , why is that a bad thing?
I think Koromhla is used to SLUTS!!!!!!!
Well Dear Mrs. Koromhla, Kalomhra was born in the U.S , she was raised and lived all of her life in the U.S the fact that she even speaks some Greek should make you proud, instead of putting her down!
as far as I'm concern we the "omogeneis" like you refer to us speak Greek more clearly than you all do in Greece, have you listened how young people speak in Greece? they have their own slang language. 
And what about you?????how would you like it if people criticsed you for your lack of education?
You host a show on TV and you can't even speak a word in English just like that other touvlo Menegaki, there are many times you invite international guests on your show and you can't even interview them without having an interpreter !!!!!!
How the heck did you ever land jobs on TV??

U oversimplify things.
I've met many greeks in the NA and some of them can speak Greek pretty good and some others speak poorly (depending on upbringing and greek school hrs). From what I gather, Kalomira's parents spoke to her in English when she was a kid (a stupid decision) and didn't send her to Greek school. Given this, it is a miracle that people like her in Greece (even though she cant speak Greek and she CAN NOT sing!).
If Kalomira lived her whole life in the US (and didnt think it was important to learn Greek) why did she go for the Fame Story audition and why she wants to stay in Greece after the end of the show?
The fact that Menegaki doesnt speak English is irrelevant since her audience is Greek. The fact the Kalomira dont speak a word of Greek is sad (for her and her family).

Excuse me but they are many Greeks who
have married outside their race, some of my relatives have,
and it's very difficult for a child to learn Greek or any other language when both parents have different backgrounds,
in any case Kalomoira does speak Greek, just because she doesn't recognize or can't pronounce some Greek words correctly that doesn't give you or anybody else the right to attack her, I'm very proud of her she has nothing to be ashamed of.
Compare to how some in Greece speak Greek Kalomoira's Greek is superburb.
You know I had noticed too when visiting Greece how some Greeks speak Greek weird odd ...XIORIATIKA but I never said anything to them but lo and behold if I didn't pronounce a word correctly they would make fun.
What about Greeks who come to live here and never learn a word of English??? Isn't that tragic??? after all you live in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA the universal language is ENGLISH!!
I agree with The Orthodox Churches conducting mass in English!! Do you realize they are many other races other than Greek who share the same religion and visit our churches?
And personally I rather hear God's word in plain English, I understand it better, because the Greek Orthodox masses chant too much and give me a headache!! I want them to read the bible not chant it to me.
In holy trinity they conduct masses in English they should start in other churches around the region as well.
And another thing not all parents have enough money to send their kids Greek afternoon school or private schools.
Going back to the topic the point is Greeks in Greece will accept any other race but when it comes to Greek-Americans they have animosity towards them out of jealousy, I have experienced it personally and I see it all the time.Kalomoira is just another example.

Kalomoira poorly or not DOES speak Greek, the fact that Menegaki hosts a Tv show in Greece and is considered one of the most popular morning hosts in Greece and invites International guests on her show and can't communicate with them at all-that's sad. If she wants to have an all Greek-show then she should stop inviting and talking about international celebrities, plus her audience is not only Greek since so many races are living in Greece now...I doubt if half of them speak any Greek, but hey I guess it's OK for you since they are not American.
So what are you saying Greeks shouldn't like Kalomoira because her Greek isn't good? that's how you judge people?
They like Kalomoira because like many Greek-Americans she was raised with moral and values .

Λοιπόν παιδιά θα ήθελα να πώ και την δική μου γνώμη, γράφω στα Ελληνικά γιατί έτσι νιώθω και επειδή είμαι Ελληνίδα, όποιος δεν καταλαβαίνει Ελληνικά ολίγο με ενδιαφέρει. Με τη Καλομοίρα δεν έχω κανένα μα κανένα πρόβλημα αν δεν μιλάει Ελληνικά παρόλο που θα έπρεπε, δεν της έμαθαν οι γονείς της εντάξει, δεν θα δικάσουμε την κοπέλα. Είναι καλή κοπέλα , ανοιχτός χαρακτήρας έξω καρδιά παιδί. Αλλά στο τραγούδι δεν κάνει, η φωνή της είναι σαν ενός έφηβου 14 ετών, μωρουδίστικη φωνή, δεν μπορεί να ερμηνεύσει τραγούδια με φωνή λαική για παράδειγμα. Το μόνο είδος που μπορεί να τραγουδίσει είναι Britney Spears η αν ξέρεται την Loulou μια παλιά τραγουδίστρια που τέριαζε έτσι η φωνή της με της Καλομοίρας. Και σαφώς δεν αξοίζει πιστεύω να φύγει κάποιος άλλος από το Fame Story παρά η Καλομοίρα, χωρίς επαναλαμβάνω κανένα σκοπό για να θίξω την κοπέλα αυτά πιστεύω. Αν προσέβαλα τους Ελληνοαμερικάνους δεν είχα πρόθεση. Αλλα να μάθετε να κρατάτε τις παραδώσεις σας και τα έθιμα του τόπου σας γιατί χανόμαστε, αν καταλάβατε δηλαδή κάτι απο τα πιο πάνω γιατί οι περισσότεροι δεν ξέρετε να διαβάζετε Ελληνικά ! Οσο για αυτό που είπε κάποιος προηγουμένως ότι δεν κρατάνε λεφτά για ιδιαίτερα μαθήματα Ελληνικών και τέτοια αυτά είναι μπούρδες , όταν θέλεις να κάνεις κάτι το κάνεις, πόσο μάλλον όταν είναι απαραίτητο να το κάνεις γιατί είναι η μητρική σου γλώσσα και οι ρίζες σου. Για μαθήματα χωρού και γυμναστήρια κρατάμε λεφτά και άλλες μαλακίες όταν είναι για τη γλώσσα μας δεν κρατάμε? Συγνώμη αλλά δεν είμαι καμιά αφελής κοπέλα για να πιστεύω τέτοιες ανοησίες.

As proven from the Eurovision and other
singing contests
Greece has participated
in the type of music Kalomoira
sings it's more popular than 'Laika'.
Laika may be good for Greece
but it's not everyone's cup of tea.
And many young Greek Americans
like myself don't like to listen to that
kind of music just like YOU
don't like to listen to
Britney Spears type of music.

check out our Greek Independence Day
Parade on 5TH Ave,

and that is not just my opinion it's
shared by many Greek officials and tourists
who had the honor to watch the
parade and meet with Greek Americans
up close and personal.
I don't know where you come off
criticizing people finances
maybe you are loaded $$$$ but that's
not the case for everyone and the truth is
afternoon/private Greek schools are VERY
expensive much more than private Catholic schools,
and it is hard when you have bills to pay
every month especially if you are a home owner
and have mortgages have car insurance's
medical bills electricity, rent and so on ...
if some of you feel so strongly about
many of us learning Greek and our Greek
is not good enough for you , why don't
YOU and other
Greeks from Greece create a
program where omogeneis from all
over the world can learn Greek for FREE!! ?

Don't excuse the mistakes your parents committed in not teaching you their language. You are a sad, sad example of generational complacency by Greek-Americans. Having $$$ as you so callously put it, has nothing to do with parents speaking and reading Greek to their children IN THE HOME.

I have to agree on some points with you guys, but in others you are wrong.
kalomoira's greek is pretty poor, but has been improving, and if she stays in Greece,she will master it by the end of the year.
I am a Greek Australian, and I have to say from my experiences travelling back to Greece, and watching Antenna, that the Greek Americans speaking ability is generally at a much lower level than Greeks in Australia.

I don't think her post was hateful, it was honest.
You make it sound as though she should be ashamed for writing in Greek.
As for hatred toward Greek Americans, deal with it. Not everyone is going to like you. If a native Greek person is going to hate me without getting to know me first, I consider it a good thing because I won't bother wasting my time trying to cultivate a friendship. I know enough enlightened Greeks who do not judge me because I am a Greek American and those are the people I choose to spend time with when I visit Greece.
On the subject of Kalomoira, she just isn't that good. She's adorable and sweet and a great dancer, but she was not the most talented person in that competition. I am very disappointed with the outcome. Ralia and Kostantino were the best singers out of the final six and the prize should have gone to one of them. No matter, I think the true talent in the group will be able to sustain a decent career in Greece.
