and it's very difficult for a child to learn Greek or any other language when both parents have different backgrounds,
in any case Kalomoira does speak Greek, just because she doesn't recognize or can't pronounce some Greek words correctly that doesn't give you or anybody else the right to attack her, I'm very proud of her she has nothing to be ashamed of.
First I liek to say that Kalomoira is a Star, the girl has talent and I wish her luck on what ever she wants to do in her life.
BUT Anon, there is no excuse for her Greek. She need to learn Greek and I am glad now she has the chance.
I have relatives who got married to Italians, Irish, Latin, even from Sri Lanka and they all have learned GREEK.
Some of them speak so well just like a Greek in Greece and most of them speak a lot better than Kalomoira, way a lot better.

You know I had noticed too when visiting Greece how some Greeks speak Greek weird odd ...XIORIATIKA but I never said anything to them but lo and behold if I didn't pronounce a word correctly they would make fun.
Your family must have a problem with Greek(s). I never make fun of any hillie billies do you? Anytime you go to Texas you make fun of these people? or Alabama or.........
Give Kalomoira a few years or months to practice her Greek and then compare, there is no comparison here.

What about Greeks who come to live here and never learn a word of English??? Isn't that tragic??? after all you live in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA the universal language is ENGLISH!!
Many people have an accent, if they try to learn the language of the place they live it's ok, better than some people that never try to learn. Why should you leave your country to go some place and never learn the way they speak? that's wrong I agree.

I agree with The Orthodox Churches conducting mass in English!! Do you realize they are many other races other than Greek who share the same religion and visit our churches?
And personally I rather hear God's word in plain English, I understand it better, because the Greek Orthodox masses chant too much and give me a headache!! I want them to read the bible not chant it to me.
In holy trinity they conduct masses in English they should start in other churches around the region as well.
Wrong!!!!!!!! Like the people whoi want to USA or Spain or wherever and want to learn the language, wann become a Greek Orthodox then learn some Greek.
Our Langauge is what keeps us alive as Greeks let's not forget that.

Going back to the topic the point is Greeks in Greece will accept any other race but when it comes to Greek-Americans they have animosity towards them out of jealousy, I have experienced it personally and I see it all the time.Kalomoira is just another example.
Personally I don't think anyone is jealous of Kalomoira.
I bet you that Greeks in Greece LOVE HER and Admire her for her talent but teh truth is said here, imagine if she did speak Greek well? oh boy.
For me same goes for Jennifer Aniston. She doesn't know a word and yet she is there because of the Greek Factor

There is no excuse for the treatment she is receiving in the Greek media and from anti-American jealous idiots. If they want her to learn better Greek why don't they support her instead of making fun of her?

My family doesn't have a problem with Greeks, they are the ones with the problem, they are the ones who start everything and make little snippet remarks, especially once they find out you are Greek American...and no i don't make fun of people's accents i just gave an example how many Greeks in Greece can't speak Greek correctly, and how quickly they judge,
southern people may have an accent but at least the words are the same, many villages in Greece speak Greek...strange maybe to some of you it's not but for me it is, some words don't make sense..have you heard how Cretans say goat in Cretan? It rhymes with K and ends with I, I heard it in an old Alikh Bougioglaki movie.
lol @ the Albanian girl speaking better "Greek" c'mon now half of Albania is living in Greece plus the countries are so close, it's not the same with us here.

Thanks for brining up Jennifer Aniston because Roula Korimila made nasty remarks about her too ,and rolled her eyes when mentioned her participating at the Olympics, and it's not just Roula a friend of mine who recieves ANT-1 fee from Greece heard similar comments.
I don't like how the Greek media treats and speaks of Greek Americans.
How come we're always told in our afternoon Greek schools and churches to keep our Greek roots and respect our race etc...but they in Greece don't do the same for us? That is just plain WRONG.

The subject is: Kalomoira not speaking/reading/writing Greek. Liberty has managed to turn it into a Greece vs. USA hatefest.
You learned that there's a different dialect from an Aliki movie?? EVERY island and village has its own verbiage. How can you call yourself Greek and not know that??
