Οι δυναμικές εξελίξεις των ψηφιακών τεχνολογιών έχουν δημιουργήσει νέες δυνατότητες για την ανάπτυξη των επιστημών, των τεχνών και κατΥ αυτό τον τρόπο έχουν επιφέρει ανακατατάξεις στη ζωή των σύγχρονων κοινωνιών.
Στο χώρο του πολιτισμού, το υπάρχον υλικό ψηφιοποιείται, διαδίδεται μέσα από νέες βάσεις δεδομένων και ο πολιτισμός γίνεται προσβάσιμος με νέους τρόπους. Η ψηφιακή τεχνολογία γίνεται μέσο καλλιτεχνικής έκφρασης, προηγμένες τεχνολογίες επικοινωνίας ανθρώπου-υπολογιστή και πρότυπες μέθοδοι διάδρασης αναπτύσσονται.
Η τεχνολογία επηρεάζει και επηρεάζεται από τον πολιτισμό, και στο πλαίσιο αυτό ο μεταξύ τους διάλογος είναι περισσότερο από ποτέ επίκαιρος αλλά και επιβεβλημένος. Το Ίδρυμα Μείζονος Ελληνισμού, σκοπός του οποίου είναι η μελέτη, διάσωση και διάδοση του ελληνικού πολιτισμού, αξιοποιεί εφαρμογές της ψηφιακής τεχνολογίας. Παράλληλα, συμμετέχει στον προβληματισμό για τη σχέση μεταξύ των ανθρωπιστικών επιστημών και των νέων τεχνολογιών και διοργανώνει, μετά την επιτυχία των δύο προηγουμένων, το 3ο Διεθνές Συνέδριο με τίτλο «Πολιτισμική Σύγκλιση και Πολιτισμική Πληροφορία» από τις 23 έως και τις 25 Νοεμβρίου 2006 στο Πολιτιστικό του Κέντρο «Ελληνικός Κόσμος».

Presentation of the Conference

The dynamic development of digital technologies has created new opportunities for the advancement of sciences and arts and in this way they have brought changes in contemporary societies.
In the field of culture, the existent material becomes digitized, while there is development of advanced technologies for the communication between man and computer as well as original methods of interaction.
The technology influences and is influenced by culture, and in this framework the dialogue between them is more urgent that ever and mandatory as well. The Foundation of the Hellenic World aims at the study, preservation and dissemination of Hellenic culture through the use of digital technology applications. At the same time, the Foundation is actively involved in the discussion regarding the relation between the Humanities and new technologies and organizes, after the success of the previous to ones, the 3rd International Conference entitled "Cultural Convergence and Digital Technology" from the 23rd to the 25th of November 2006 at the cultural centre Hellenic Cosmos.
