Shame on Greece for spending so much money on such complex security against possible terrorist attack, and not having enough common sense to secure the games against individual malcontents or idiots such as the stupid defrocked Irish priest who pushed de Lima off the marathon course. How horrible for us! Yes, we acted swiftly to make sure that de Lima was on his way again and unscathed, but it could have been a tragedy had this "dumbass" actually been carrying a knife or a gun. I think de Lima should be awarded a medal for bravery and for not criticizing Greece's lack of security. Weren't customs officers scanning the airline passengers entering Greece? This guy disrupted the British LeMans race and should that have not been put on his Interpol file as being a prospective nutcase at sporting events? I guess we are too busy looking for the odd muslem extremist and miss the bleeding obvious! Thank god for the brave spectators who helped de Lima out and set him back on his course. I feel that Greece should honour de Lima by awarding him an "honorary gold medal" as it did happen on Athenian streets in plain view of countless police and security officers. He should be invited back to Athens and awarded the keys to the city for not criticizing the games and for being such a gentleman about the situation. He truly embodies the attitude of the Olympic spirit and deserves a second Gold! |
