Re: What is missing from the ATHENS 2004 Summer Olympics ?

Yes, they should be returned to Greece, after all that is where they belong. We should take this opportunity to put pressure on our politicians to do something about this issue. We must strike while the iron is hot and make the British look like the thieves that they are for not returning them to us. We should make it a crusade and lobby our governments and the press. This can be accomplished, like the Olympics, and now that we have shown the world who we are, we can all work together for this common cause. There are countless of websites full of petitions to that end, and we must work tirelessly to ensure that what is rightfully ours be returned to us. There is a court case brought by Greece in the international court and Greece is working hard to retrieve our national treasures but it has gone unpublisized and unnoticed. Perhaps now is the time to bring this out to the foreground and I am frankly surprised at the present Greek government for not making this an issue during the Games when all eyes are upon Greece. This would be the perfect opportunity to do so and to gain international public support. I wonder why the Greek government hasn't done so, and I also wonder why all the Greek communities of America, Canada and Australia haven't organized events by now to publicize this issue. If we put our efforts into organizing such a unified display, perhaps we will get somewhere. The worse thing we can do is stay silent about this issue.
