My mother told me about an interview yesterday on Antenna with Sfakianaki (I used to have Antenna but cancelled the service because I got sick of all the anti-American sentiments and propoganda being portrayed by the antenna news network), where he was asked of what he thinks of the U.S. he is quoted in short as saying...." einai patsavoura" which means a dirty, old, soiled rag.He is entitled to his opinion. More troubling was when he was asked the follow-up question that his comments were not fair, and what about the Greek-Americans here in the U.S., he just simply shrugged his shoulders, insinuating he feels the same. Who does Sfakianaki think he is, greater than the whole? As Greek-Americans we have supported his music, bought his CD's went to his concerts. No more.It is one thing to have a political view, but its another to lack decency and respect. Sadly you will find those sentiments highly prevolent in greek society today. |
