There is a difference between insulting message and criticism.
The Poll is not clear on that issue.
For an example, former PM, K. Mhtsotakhs, said about two
months ago on National TV, that " we live in a strange
thirld world country" and those were his exact words, with
no reaction from any individual, or any Political Party.
Now, do you define that as an insult against his country, or as criticism for the way things are run, or as a statement?
Please be more specific, so we know what to vote for!!
Thank you!!

Freedom of speech is great and a must in my estimation, but there are boundaries that can be crossed and the question is where does omogenia.com and its users draw the line with censorship of the boards? I have read some of the anononymous comments posted on the site, and the ones I have read definitely lean toward the mean-spirited and racist side. As a user, that's annoying to me, but...whatever. I get the sense that these anonymous postings express an entire group's political interests rather than one user's opinions. On the other hand, it's interesting to get different points of view, however difficult they might be to hear. As long as the comments are factual and not racist or discriminatory, I may consider creating some user/member policies that include a requirement for people to sign up for omogenia.com before they can post. Omogenia.com moderators, at their discretion and within reason, should consider remove postings that are racist, intolerable and radical. I would hate the boards to turn negative. People are here to make friends and chat, not deal with people who ant to spread hate. We deal with enough negativity daily....let's have fun here. I LOVE Greece and all Greeks! Filakia!

Sometimes we confuse freedom of speech with "freedom to insult." Anyone should be able to express their own opinions, ideas or beliefs in a civilized manner and as long as they do not resort in personal attacks, racist remarks and slurs, and attacks on anyone's religion or political beliefs and ethnicity. Furthemore, this is a forum that presumably aims to "bring Hellens together." Yet, during the past few weeks, this forum with its tolerance for the intolerable has resulted in the exact oposite, forcing Hellens to politely call it enouhg and depart.

I think a better question would be, should you allow
users to post insulting messages against the U.S.A? Really that's the only country insulting messages were posted about for..years and one said anything.
Upon arriving on this website that's all I read, insults, derogatory remarks
and full of hatred messages and articles posted against The U.S.A, U.S citizens and Greek American citizens. Only when those "opinions" were challenged and replied to complaints of violating freedom of speech were expressed which I find very hypocritical.

Furthermore I strongly believe the moderators and people who run a website should set up the good example, and sorry but I haven't seen that from your staff. They have openly insulted, attacked, insitigated and forced users to lash out in defense, in addition they have openly expressed favoritism and sided with users who mostly post messages from Greece or other parts of Europe, or who agree with their opinions, no matter if their messages are racists, intolerable and full of hatred. It's like a groupie type of thing. So if you decide to censor you will need to start by them.

If your aim is to bring Hellenists together from around the WORLD people in charge should set up the good example, and users should remember they are Greeks born and reside all over the world not just in Greece.
If some people "departed" because they can't take the heat then
they shouldn't start fires.

Thanks for the poll and have a super duper day!
