NBC should really get out of the Olympic Games.
That's not the way to show the most beautiful opening ever.
Too many commercials at the WRONG TIME plus they cut lots of scenes from the show.
I didn't see the olive tree light up neither I didn't see the conection with the spaceship and teh astronauts.
Also they have to learn translation, Bob Costas might be from Greek origin but his Greek SUCKS.
I know it's not is fault but hey NBC when we say F.Y.ROM we mean it, next time translate it as they give it to you.

After all I will have to wait and see if this opening comes out on DVD to see it again....and again... and again.

I agree with you,.. believe it or not,
I thought the commercials were way too many
and a distraction
and aired when they shouldn't have, they could have least
aired the opening which was 40 minutes tops with no commercials on, I know Olympics tend to get long but wish they would air everything in it's entire,
but despite that i still loved the opening ceremonies, it was amazing i loved the drum pounding the flamed rings in the water the little boy in the paper boat boy EROS and how they connected ancient history with modern.. really beautiful, the creator who visioned that did a wonderful job and contrary to early reports how the U.S team was going to be received they were welcomed to a very cheery warm generous crowd and applause,also Gianna's speech was excellent, it's too bad for Kenteris but i loved watching Mellasinidis and gold medal windsurfer Nikos Kaklamanakis
lit the torch it was beautiful. 
The Olympics most definitely will be released on DVD ,
CNBC repeated the opening ceremonies early 2:00 am last evening,
maybe they aired it commercial free there?

IDIOTS!!! i agree with you completely. i must have counded like 10 commercial breaks. this event should always be non-stop its the opening for gods sake. bob is a dumbass . NBC made tons of money so they could care less.
people dont understand the real meaning behind the olympics, the opening set should always be live and commercial-free. olympics are not about money

I didn't appreciate or like Katie's Wizard of Oz comment same about Bob Costas and the Belize one.
I felt some of their comments were unappropriate
also when Bjork was performing couldn't really enjoy her performance because of the commentary,i really liked her dress and how it covered the stadium.

It's not really the channel's fault it's the
people who work for it, I have no
problem telling it how it is
and the truth is Katie & Costas
did a bad job hosting the event...
they sucked.
ABC did a wonderful job
when they used to air the OIympics,
i was little but i still remember Mary
Lou Retton at the Los Angeles
1984 Olympics winning the gold medal
at Gymnastics 
So how was the coverage in Greece?
I heard only 1 channel was allowed
to broadcast the Olympics there.
Did you watch on TV or
did you attend in person ?

The coverage of the Games is OK.
It seems to me better that last Olympics but YES they failed on the opening night. I wish ERT was allowed to broadcast the games in USA.

I do remember hearing the Wizard of Oz comment and Katie Couric also saying that the ceremonies are happening as planned without incidence "YET", as if she was surprised that the stadium didn't blow up, but can you tell me what else was said?
