A FEAST FOR YOUR EYES
      #1854 - Mon Nov 26 2001 06:33 PM

"With natural ability, coming from first-hand knowledge, the talented writer bears out that war is the only condition and absolutely turns a man inside out. War strips a man, rips out his heart and guts and sets them on the outside of his body. Whatever the place of his heart, man does not change. The Greek, warmhearted and sensitive, a man who fanatically loves his country, remained true to character. As did the German, cruel, brutal, insensitive, a man who loved his country beyond all else."

"But "The Man With The Black Worrybeads" is a book for every man of every nationality. It is much needed at this time. For it is a grim, powerful device to jog man's memory and remind him at the true meaning of war."

"Mr. Rumanes has streaked his stunning narrative with fascinating fragments of history. Written in two parts, he prefaces both with picture of Piraeus, which Aeschylus writing in 490 B. C. called the "jewel" in the diadem of Athens."

I would rather recommend "THE FOUNTAINHEAD" by Ayn Rand. A book about the "creator and the indominable human spirit."

Then...you may want to read "KAPETAN MIXALIS" by Kazatzakis. Here is an outstanding one! And by the way, I am more Greek than what you can ever fathom! And a good book would have nothing to do with the nationality of the author. A masterpiece is always a masterpiece and a vivid example of it KAPETAN MIXALIS. Read it, you may find out what a great author and a great book are all about!

Why one's opinion on a particular book should be considered "stealth vitriol?" I respect your opinion about the book. Why can't you just to that, too.

Karavida, Maria, Dimitra, et al:

For heaven's sake, enough is enough. I think you generate your own arguments just to keep the topic going one way or another, and I am going to hate myself in the morning for becoming a pawn by writing this. Before any one of you or your incarnations, though, tells me that I am jealous of your intelligence, or that I should read more good books, etc., etc., or that this is "Elefthero Thema" know this.

I spent 20 years in the marketing and advertising fields. What you are doing is sooooooo very negative (and obvious), that it defeats its purpose. If I wanted to buy the book (which would have been the case if I had not already read it many-many years ago), your immaturity and lack of professionalism would have turned me off so fast, that I would have stayed clear of this title. And If I was stupid enough, or young enough, not to be bothered by your name-calling persistence, I would more than likely belong to that group of the population which does not read books anyway.

So, if you are trying to market this title, please pay attention to the market segment that best suits your interests, and don't destroy a good work and your own piece of the pie, with your immaturity.

Personally, If I had hired you to represent one of my products, I would have fired you a long time ago. Unless, of course, I was marketing, a can of bad beer.

If you have nothing else constructive to do and look for wasting some of your time, read it.

Στ'αλήθεια διερωτώμαι, πού είναι ο άνθρωπος αυτός να σταματήσει αυτόν τόν εμπαιγμό;
