New to Adelaide: Adelaide's 1st Hellenic Cultural Festival - "ODYSSEY" (2006)

Adelaide's Hellenic Cultural Festival "Odyssey" , proudly presented by the Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia Incorporated [and endorsed/supported by the South Australian Multicultural & Ethnic Affairs Commission ], will commence for the first time ever from 28 September - 29 October 2006 .

This exciting Festival was born out of the success of the 4th Greek Film Festival in 2005. By combining the Film Festival and other fantastic existing events with new cultural and artistic events, Adelaide's Hellenic Cultural Festival "Odyssey" promises to be Australia's premier celebration of Greek culture.

The Festival will incorporate the following events:

* 5th Adelaide Greek Film Festival
* Orchestral 'Odyssey' Concert at the Adelaide Town Hall
* Sensational One-Woman Theatrical Performances
* The Parthenon Marbles Lecture at The University of Adelaide
* Contribution of Greek Migrants to the Australian Community Lecture at The University of Adelaide
* Contemporary Greek Australian Art Display
* Photo Exhibition in Memory of Don Dunstan at the Barr Smith Library, The University of Adelaide
* Grecian Debutante Ball
* Annual Schools Festival

The Festival will open with the 5th Adelaide Greek Film Festival on 28 September and culminate with the celebration of Greek National Day on 29 October. It is envisaged that Adelaide's Hellenic Festival 'Odyssey' will become an annual event which will showcase Greek-Australian cultural and artistic events .

The Festival will combine high quality ticketed events with free events including lectures and a Greek-Australian art display. The Festival welcomes not only Greek Australians but the entire Australian community.
