Hi
Anyone that could answer me this question. If your are a "Dopia from Veria" - What does this mean?
I have always been told that our family has always been in Veria, unlike for example the Vlach, Pontic and so on, but when I type in Dopia in Google-Wikipedia it says something about slavic-speaking people living in Florina. It says that they dialect is similar to Bulgarian and can be understood by Serbs.
I know Dopia mean Local in Greek, isnt that right? I moved from Greece as a child. Hoping for someone to answer me this.

Hi CXT - I believe you answered your own question - in that you are aware that 'dopia' means 'local'.
However you may wish to search your topic (Veria) using the keywords > 'Indigeneous/Indigenous', meaning 'native' or even 'Ancestral/Ancestors/Descendants' - to give you a broader understanding of the locals in question - - - rather than just the ethnic origins of dopious/locals
Just a thought ...
