I have been reading with interest your small battles and frankly I am amazed with the narrow-mindedness both of you have so vividly displayed. Both of you are losing the war of intellectuality. The fact that you "Truth be Told" did all those nice things in Greece does not make you a better person. A better person keeps such good deeds under his/her hat and perhaps, just perhaps, may let these deeds speak for themselves. Also, I am very pleased to see that you love this country and you are a proud American citizen. Yet, you should have learned that respecting the opinions of others and their beliefs, even though such beliefs and opinions contradict ours/yours, is very fundamental in our society. You don't like the modern Greeks. That's fine, I respect that. Cursing and debasing them and bringing a discussion to a personal level is, at best, very unacceptable and very anti-American.
The same holds true for you too SVATS. Learn to respect the opinions of others, and especially if such opinions and believes contradict yours. Such respect is very Greek. Just think how the Greek philosophers argued their points, without resorting to personal and debasing attacks. And as a result they brought the "dialectiki" to its highest level, a level that has yet to be achieved.
Both of you have strong opinions and you should be proud of it. Bringing a discussion, however, to an uncivilized, personal and uncharacteristic level does not make you better persons. And reading some of your comments, I strongly believe that both of you are better and deserve better than that.
