Archbishop Demetrios has announced that Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will preside over the centenial (100 years) celebration of Epiphany in Tarpon Springs, Florida on January 6th 2006, as part of an official visit to the Metropolis of Atlanta Georgia on Jan. 4-8.
The Partriach, who is the spiritual leader of over 250 million Orthodox Christians worldwide, will also commemorate the centennial of St. Nicholas Cathedral in Tarpon Springs during a Patriarchal Divine Liturgy.
The annual Epiphany celebration in Tarpon Springs, is recognized as one of the largest Epiphany celebrations and attracts tens of thousands of people on the Bayou for the Blessing of the water, and the recovery of the precious Cross by the young men in the community.
