We were fortunate to have been granted many audiences with His Eminence to discuss ways in which we can work together to project and protect Hellenism and Orthodoxy abroad. In 2001, Archbishop Christodoulos received the late John Paul II, the first pope to visit Greece in 1,300 years. Again, in 2006, His Eminence visited the Vatican to meet with Pope Benedict XVI and signed a joint declaration calling for inter-religious dialogue.
