What is ... and isn't being reported (accurately enough)

What is being reported at present:
GREECE OUTRAGES FYROM WITH BAN ON PRESIDENTIAL FLIGHT
Neighbourly relations between Athens and Skopje were further soured Thursday when FYROM President Branko Crvenkovski cancelled a trip to Athens in protest at a Greek ban on his flight. "This action by Greek authorities contradicts international norms and principles and is not contributing to development of good neighbourly relations," Crvenkovski's cabinet said in a statement.
Crvenkovski was to take part in a biennial United Nations forum on natural resources in the region, but was informed by the Greek liaison office in Skopje that his plane would not be allowed to land. The Greeks offered "alternate" transport, but Macedonia refused, the Makfax news agency said. Greece and FYROM have been embroiled in a diplomatic row over the name "Macedonia," which both claim as their own.
In April, Athens blocked NATO from inviting its northern neighbour to join because of the dispute, stirring strong anti-Greek sentiment in the former Yugoslav republic. Greece does not allow FYROM aircraft, including the carrier MAT, to fly over its territory and applied the same ban to Crvenkovski's official aeroplane.
And ... what is being excluded, overlooked or perhaps being purposely downplayed (or minimized) by external media sources and journalists? >>
Q: Why would FYROM's Presidential plane not be allowed to land in Greece; and what would cause the Hellenic Government to take such a stance ??
Suggestively, perhaps the best way to consider the uproar currently being demonstrated by the proposed, incoming flight - might be from a hypothetical standpoint, wherein:
Let's say Australia, the United States, Canada or the United Kingdom were heavily embroiled in a name dispute of their very own - in which another region or nation brazenly utilized their traditional name, and in the midst of diplomatic negotiations and legal proceedings (on an International level) decided to visit/enter Australia's airspace and airport (for example) prominently featuring, arrogantly flaunting the disputed name upon its aeroplane??
Now ... would that not be viewed as an antagonistic, provocative gesture on the part of the visiting dignitary? Is it not irresponsible and insensitive of the guest to openly display such contempt and disregard toward the host nation and its citizens - especially during the midst of such political conflict?
I guess it's all about perspective - which unfortunately (at present) is being delivered and drawn most predominantly from >> selective bits of information and sensationalist modes of 'reportage'. Such is the nature of Mass Media ... any representation of another's reality is extremely relative - depending on the viewpoints of the speakers/writers (and their vested interest/s) at the time.
Whenever important details are omitted or when realities are over-simplified by way of selective media representations - only half the story is ever told; the topic or subject matter is ultimately rendered ambiguous, if not extremely biased.
Another interesting report which was over-simplified or even ignored by certain media:
Back in 2007 (like many occasions beforehand) Turkey had made an outrageous claim to one-half of the Aegean Sea - yet refused to take its maritime boundary claim to the International Court of Justice at the Hague for a binding ruling or arbitration. Ironically, such challenges to the treaty-defined boundary (the Dodecanese Islands and adjacent islets) were never repudiated by any superpowers. Greece simply grinned and tolerated such preposterous claims, and avoided making loud noises or spectacle of the issue at hand (unlike others).
... it's up to each individual to derive 'whatever' meaning they chose - from each and every story that ever comes out of mass media. We are all free to decide what is true or false - but doing the research, asking the relevant questions does have its advantages.
